Mrs. G. W. Porth Died Thursday

Mrs. G. W. Porth, a long time and highly respected resident of Ambrose township, died in a Williston hospital last Thursday, August 10th, where she had been recently hospitalized. She had been in failing health for the past several months.

The funeral services were conducted Monday, August 14th, at Fergus Falls, Minn., and burial was in a Lutheran cemetery at that place.

Mrs. Porth, the former Louise Trenne was born in Fergus Falls, Minn., on the 17th day of December, 1883, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Trenne. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a devout lifelong member of that organization.

She came to the Ambrose area in 1907, and filed on a homestead in Ambrose Township. She was united in marriage to Gebhard W. Porth, July 24, 1912, and they took up their residence on the homestead where she and the family built a very comfortable farm home. Mr. Porth preceded her in death several years ago, and since that time she and her son Vernon have continued with the farming.

She leaves to mourn her passing, a son, Vernon, at home and a daughter, Helen, who will teach this year at the University Center at Williston. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother, Mrs. William Nordman of Noonan and Mrs. Henry Schumann of Fergus Falls and Martin P. Trenne of Helena, Mont.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Porth was a devout Christian, a loving mother and she will be greatly missed in her circle of friends and neighbors.
