Family History - Charles Bublitz, Native Son

Charles F. Bublitz (1927-2001) was a true native son of Ambrose. He was born to H. W. (Web) and Mardeth Bublitz in the Ambrose Community hospital in 1927.   His parents were Colgan school teachers and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Gehrke, settled in Ambrose in 1910.

Chuck, as he was commonly called, married June A. Anderson (1931-2002) of Westby, Montana, at Grenora, North Dakota in 1949. They operated a dry cleaning business for a few years, sold it and lived in Seattle for one winter before moving back to the farm. They lived on what was known as the Severt Ness place three miles southwest of Ambrose.

They were the parents of three children: Kathryn (Mrs. Vernell Johnson), Harold (married to the former Cathy Strand of Crosby), and David.

The Bublitzes were members of the Ambrose Lutheran Church. Both Chuck and June worked in Sunday school and Luther League. Chuck was chairman of the Ambrose Township board and both were active in community affairs.
