Family History - Mr. & Mrs. Emil Hanson, Early Settlers

Mr. & Mrs. Emil Hanson had 5 sons and 1 daughter.

Son, Harold L. Hanson and wife, Grace, continued to farm the home farm and also operated the Ambrose Grocery until Harold's death in August, 1968, following a lengthy illness. Their son, Warren, attends Divide county high school. Grace married Orville Vassen in 1969.

Son, Eldon H. Hanson and wife Metta, live in Columbia Falls, Mont., where he deals in horses, and she nurses in the local hospital. Their children are:

(1) Eldon L. Hanson and wife, Shirley, live in Great Falls, Mont., where he teaches high school chemistry. He received his Masters degree in 1973. They have three children.
(2) Barbara and her husband, Eugene Espeland, live in Great Falls, Mont. where they own a real estate agency which Barbara manages. Gene is a high school coach and teacher. They have three children.
(3) Mary Ann and her husband, Norman Hagen, live in Columbia Falls, Mont. with their three children. Norman is a high school business teacher, and Mary Ann operates her own kindergarten.
(4) Sharon and her husband, Jim Ward, live in Columbia Falls, Mont., where he teaches high school math, and she does part time nursing. They have three children.
(5) Sandra Hanson lives in Great Falls, Mont., where she teaches music in the public schools.

Son, E. Everett Hanson and his wife, Bernice, continue their farming operations two miles east of Ambrose. Their children are:

(1) Marlyn and husband, Arnold Wigginton, who have two children, Debra and Joel. They live in Crosby where Marlyn teaches business and English courses at the high school. She received her M. A. in Business Education in 1972.
(2) Leslie married Leanne Walstad of Williston in 1964 and they have one son, Jeffrey. They live three miles east of Ambrose where Les farms and also has his own trucking company.

Daughter, Lucille and husband, Ellsworth Johnson, live in Edina, Minn., where he is president of Rembrandt Enterprises, Inc. Their children are:

(1) Beverly and husband, Rich Anderson, live in Roberts, Wisc., with daughter, Elizabeth.
(2) Robert L. Johnson lives in Crosby where he is an employee of the Hanson Trucking company.
(3) Joan recently married Howard Smith of Decatur, Ala. where they will live with her two daughters, Jayne and Susan.
(4) Barbara and her husband, Eugene Mace, live in Minneapolis, Minn.
(5) Nancy lives at home.
(6) Jennifer lives at home.

Son, Ronald L. Hanson and his wife, June, live in Crosby. He is a rural carrier and owns and operates a Laundromat. June retired from her nursing position after 15 years at the Crosby Clinic. Their children are:

(1) Ryan L. Hanson married Margaret Hinrichs of Mankato, Minn., in 1969 and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1970. He is now a Lieutenant JG in the U. S. Navy, and she is an insurance adjuster. They live in San Diego.
(2) Ronald L. Hanson II married Linda Eslinger of Bismarck in 1971 and graduated from UND in 1972. He is a second lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force, attending navigator school at Mather AFB in California where they reside with their son, Michael Leslie.
(3) Holly Ann Hanson lives at home.

Son, Arden L. Hanson and wife, Marie, live in Crosby. He farms and has a trucking business, and Marie is employed at the Farmers State Bank in Crosby. Their children are:

(1) Gail graduated from Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in 1969 and is active in her profession.
(2) Glenda married Byron Jacobson of Crosby in 1971, and they have a daughter, Angela Margaret. Byron attends UND in Grand Forks where he is working toward a degree in chemical engineering.
(3) Daniel is at home.
