The Ambrose Embroidery Club

From Divide County History 1974, Crosby, North Dakota

The Ambrose Embroidery Club was organized in 1909 at the home of Mrs. Walter Todd. There were five charter members:

Mrs. V. L. Gilbert
Mrs. Joe Miller
Mrs. A. O. Ness
Mrs. Fred Athern
Mrs. Todd

The Club was federated October 12, 1915, with a membership of 15, but withdrew in 1926 and became a social club again. Throughout the years they were active in many community projects. They did a lot of Red Cross work for the soldiers during World War I. They packed boxes of food and clothing for needy families. They also furnished a room at the Ambrose Hospital and bought supplies that were needed there. They collected books for the Library, donated to flood relief as well as many other worthwhile projects. The club disbanded in 1971.

Among other early day members were:

Mrs. D. C. Hair
Mrs. Otto Turbett
Mrs. A. M. Shaw
Mrs. Frank Larson
Mrs. Dave Sutherland
