Ambrose American Legion From Divide County History 1974, Crosby, North Dakota The Severson-Larson Post of the American Legion was organized in honor of Ordis Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Severson, and Leonard Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Larson of Colgan who lost their lives in France in World War II. There are 25 charter members. (See the AHS 1952 Yearbook dedication). The American Legion Post of Ambrose has continued active through the years sponsoring many worthwhile community activities. On Memorial Day, flags are placed on the graves of Service Men and services are conducted honoring the war dead. They have annually provided Christmas parties for the children of the community with a Santa Claus, free candy, and free movies for all. Each year they choose a worthy boy of the community to send to Boys State. The Post has received special citation from the State Headquarters at Fargo for their many activities. Their American Legion Hall in Ambrose is available for use at all times for worthwhile community activities. There are 33 members at the present time. History taken from page 336 of
