Masonic Lodge No. 97 From Divide County History 1974, Crosby, North Dakota The Masons of Ambrose began to hold meetings in the winter of 1909-1910. On April 19, 1910, they held a meeting to discuss organization of a Lodge. At a second meeting on April 27th, the following officers were elected:
A Disposition from the Grand Lodge was granted on September 3, 1910. At a special meeting on August 22, 1911, the Grand Master, Robert Morrison of North Dakota delivered the Chapter in person and officers were installed. Others of the twenty charter members were:
By the end of the year 1913 the membership had grown to 39. Even though Crosby had established their own lodge, drawing many of the charter members of Ambrose, membership at Ambrose continued to grow until at one time it had over 100 members. Up to 1915 the Masonic Lodge had held their meetings in Miller's Hall. At that time the members voted to build a building of their own. A Masonic Temple was built and was dedicated on June 6, 1916. In the early years the Lodge was an active part of the community, ever ready to lend a helping hand where needed. Activities decreased in later years but the Lodge still holds meetings periodically. At present there are 25 members. Some of the many outstanding members throughout the years were these Brothers who served as Worshipful Master:
