Class of 1953 History

Once again another graduating class has issued forth from the portals of A. H. S.  Our Senior year in High School has been enjoyable as well as successful.

During the year we've had a lot of activities such as: Amateur Contest, Play, and several other things which helped finance our Skip Day.  On May 8th we left on Skip Day.  We were gone five days, taking in the Badlands, the State Capitol, Career Day and others.  Our chaperone was Mrs. Margaret Parsley.

On May 15th the Juniors gave a very nice prom and banquet in our honor.  Thanks kids!

Finishing our High School career, we had Baccalaureate Services on Friday, May 22nd, at the Ambrose Lutheran Church.  Rev. Marlyn Hansing of Westby delivered the sermon.  Rev. Joseph Hughes of Powers Lake was our Commencement speaker on May 28th.  Betty Nygard was salutatorian and Beverly Cowley valedictorian.

Class motto: “In Ourselves Our Future Lies”
